About Olympiad

The Open Doors Olympiad is an international project allowing international students to be enrolled on a tuition-free master’s degree program at one of the leading Russian universities.

  • The project is designed by pioneering Russian academic experts with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation;
  • The Olympiad is held in two stages. Both stages are held online;
  • You can choose a few subject areas and be enrolled at any number of universities;
  • An international student will have all advantages of early admission.

The Olympiad is arranged by the Association of Global Universities in cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo).

Winners and prizewinners of Open Doors are granted free early admission at any Russian university, without entrance examinations and with tuition fees covered by the Russian Federation.

The Olympiad winners will be enrolled in a master’s degree program through a single-window system choosing any out of 500 Russian universities, including 21 leading universities participating in the 5-100 Project. 

Who is Eligible to Apply:

  • International citizens;
  • Stateless people;
  • Compatriots residing abroad and students obtaining a bachelor’s degree or completing a bachelor’s degree in the 2023 academic year.

Olympiad Winner

It is an Olympiad participant who was able to enter the top 25% due to the overall scores gained in two stages.

*The Olympiad can be held on two tracks: Master's track and Postgraduate track (an analogue of a PhD). TPU performs the role of an expert university in the methodology of the Earth Sciences and expert university of the jury in Chemistry and Materials Science.

FAQ
A subject area is the field of knowledge that covers groups of program tracks a master's degree student can follow. The area of science you would like to specialize in, to be short.

First, select a master's degree program in the subject area you are a winner in. Then, choose one or several universities that offer master's degree programs in this track.

After confirming your proficiency in English or Russian, you can study in that language of tuition. If you need to improve your Russian, you will be offered a Russian language preparatory course.

Your tuition fee will be paid by the Russian Federation. You will only have to cover your travel and accommodation costs, insurance and personal expenses.

You will be enrolled in a specialization indicated in your registration form. Within this specialization, you can choose any program applicable to foreign students.

If you meet all the selection criteria and provide the necessary documents promptly, you will be granted free tuition.

No, if you succeeded in the final stage of Open Doors, you will not have to take any entrance exams.

No, you will not have to pay for anything after your graduation.

You will get the same scholarship as Russian students.

TPU offers 5 education programs that have been successfully accredited by the professional community, including Gazprom Center for Human Resource, AEER EUR-ACE®WA. These are 4 master's degree programs and 1 specialist degree program. We are particularly focused on English-taught programs, including those designed in partnership with leading Russian and international universities, research institutions and industrial companies.

Our graduates receive a national Diploma of Higher Education along with an optional Diploma Supplement (European standard, made in English), if needed. We offer assistance to international students, including pickup at the airport and railway station, academic and social support (comfortable accommodation, scholarships, healthcare services, provided that they have an insurance certificate).
